Commit to it!

So in JANUARY, yes 6 months ago I committed to doing this blog and keeping it up to date. Well, FAIL!! So now onto another commitment that hopefully I can keep! In fact I'm all about commitments these days! I'm committed to having a great summer, even if the heat is unbearable, I'm committed to spending as much time relaxing with my family and I'm committing to potty training Mackenzie! Well, that last one might not be so much of a commitment as a huge wish!

The biggest commitment that I'm making is to myself to train for and finish the Columbus Half Marathon in October! Yep, that's right, I know you have probably read that a few times now to see if you have it right and yes you do! I got this crazy idea about 2 1/2 yrs ago when I went to cheer on a great friend of mine, Barb, all the way from the start to the finish. Right away I was totally inspired, however I ended up pregnant and involved with a newborn, so there went the training. Little hard to train 9 mos pregnant and with the life-changing events that went along with a newborn :o) So, this year I feel like I'm up for the challenge! I started pre-training around February and now I'm actually in my training phase (all 20 weeks of it)!
I recently joined Marathoners in Training (MIT) and am enjoying it tremendously! I think this is just what I need as a "beginner" so that I don't end up lying on some road somewhere gasping for air!! So far I'm following the training schedule and it seems to be going good, which is really another way of saying I haven't died yet! I'm doing about 2 miles 5x a week, so that is a start. I'm in the 13 min mile group, which seems like a totally awesome group of people that I can't wait to really get to know throughout this process.

So with that to be said, here's to blogging/relaxing/jogging and committing to it fully!! (again) :o)
